What Is An RDN?

?A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) is a nutrition professional that has undergone extensive education and training to become certified to practice and provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT). A Dietitian’s job as a whole is to translate the complex science of nutrition into practical everyday solutions for healthy living. This is not to be confused with anyone who can call themselves a ‘nutritionist’ – as this is not a regulated term. The RDN designation highlights the fact that all Registered Dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are Registered Dietitians.

RDNs can work in a variety of settings ranging from hospitals, community facilities, long term care, universities, schools, behavioral health, to private practice.
